Abstract

A techno-economic feasibility analysis for a 5 MWe scrap tire granulés gasification facility is presented. Electricity generation is based on gas engines with the option of waste heat recovery. Based on our previous work, it is demonstrated that the best thermochemical option for waste tire disposal and energetic valorization is gasification using a mixture of preheated air and steam as the gasification agent. Also based on our previous work, the best gasification technology is shown to be the circulating fluidized bed technology. The study shows that under the regulatory and financial conditions prevalent in Turkey, the project is both technically and economically feasible.
